Easy Colorful Everyday Makeup Tutorial 02 Icey Baby Blue
Have you ever struggled to figure out how to use those colorful shades in your makeup palettes? Or are you trying to find beginner friendly examples of colorful eyeshadow looks? I’ve always had trouble adding more bold colors to my everyday makeup look without it being “too much”. So I’ve decided to journal my experiments with using colorful shades and incorporating that into my daily looks using simple techniques. Please follow along with this series if you are looking for some makeup inspiration for both old and new palettes.
Baby blue has been a trending color and makeup look in the past year as the Y2K 2000s fashion style has become popular. I just feel really old as I grew up in the late 90’s and now 2000s is considered a throw back. Blue on my skin tone is also a bit hard to make work so I usually shy away from it. Today I decided to give it a try anyway, pairing it with a baby pink and a warm rusty brown. I didn’t want the brown to overtake the whole look so I only used that shade as a wing eyeliner.

I first used the light pink shade from the 3CE Beach Muse palette and only applied it right at the top of my inner lid crease. Then I used that first shade in the palette that looks like it would be a light beige, but it actually is a light pink glitter that has pink reflects., and put that right over the matte pink. I wanted a pink pop of color but a bit of pink sparkle too. I then used the light blue shimmer from my Kailav Triumph of Venus palette all over the rest of my eyelid.
Unfortunately this brand no longer exists, but I liked the color stories of the palettes they did release. I’m always hoping other brands would have similar releases as I like that watercolor aesthetic. Finally I used Great Pumpkin Patch from the Nomad Cosmetics Hudson Valley palette as an eyeliner. This shade is a warm rusty brown pumpkin color that I thought might look a bit more interesting than a traditional black or dark brown wing eyeliner.
Makeup Swatches
Here we have the makeup swatches that shows the overall color story of the eyeshadow look. You can really see the shimmer and glitter in the last photo where I used a filter to bring out the colors more. I think this makeup would be a nice spring day time look and the warm brown eyeliner doesn’t seem too odd of a choice. I find that a makeup look is more balanced if you use one shade as your focus color, such as the baby blue, and use one or two other shades as just pops.
