Tropical Summer Vibes Hooded Eye Makeup Tutorial
Today’s colorful eye look was created using the Melt Cosmetics Vida palette from their Amor Eterno collection. Although this collection was released during the Halloween season, the Vida palette has bright greens and corals that are just as suitable for the summer months. I used Atole first as an all over lid base color, then applied Papel Picado on the outer lid. I wanted a light wash of color so I did not go in with a heavy hand on the blending. Then I used Alegria on the inner lid, again just adding a light blend. I decided to try a fun eyeliner color instead of the usual brown or black so I used Sarape to create a shimmer green wing. I felt the eye look needed a bit more sparkle so I used the rom&nd Better Than Palette in Light & Glitter Garden. This is another all glitter palette that I found extremely useful in adding a quick touch of interest to your makeup. I used the shade Champagne Flow on the inner eye crease, just enough that it shows a pop of glitter.
I’ve heard from the beauty community that many people have had problems with the quality of Melt Cosmetic palettes. There are issues with the shades growing what seems like mold, making the palettes unusable and unsafe. I have several Melt palettes, however I believe that the only reason I have not experienced the same issues is because I don’t use them often. I am not exactly sure why some palettes are growing this supposed mold. Perhaps a bad batch during production that later palettes were fixed. I think if you are interested in buying some older Melt palettes, try to spray some alcohol before and after each use.
Makeup Swatches
Here are swatches of the shades I used in this eye look to give you an idea of the color story. It’s got a bit of a tropical vibe to me but the chartreuse shade makes it a little more interesting. I used a filter for the second image to showcase the glitter better. You can see there’s bits of gold and purple throughout. Overall I liked the technique of lightly blending these bright shades. It creates a watercolor like effect if you aren’t looking for super bright pops of color.
