Aug 7 Golden Hour Eyes: A Step-by-Step Tutorial Using Cosmic Brushes

For today's makeup look, I visited some high school friends in Orange County that I haven't seen in a while. It was a chill, lunchtime hang out, so I didn't want anything too bold for my eyeshadow look. I must have been feeling the heat and summer vibes, and gravitated towards the mustard yellow in the Cosmic Brushes Muse palette right away. I ended up creating a golden hour inspired eyeshadow look with its warm yellow and hint of a purple wing. Follow along below for a step-by-step tutorial of this glowing sunset summer makeup.

Golden Hour Eyeshadow Tutorial

From the Cosmic Brushes Muse eyeshadow palette, apply the shade Admire in the eyelid crease towards the front of the eye. If you have hooded eyes like I do, blend the shade a bit above your natural eyelid crease so the eyeshadow will be more visible. Try not to blend this yellow shade too far into the outer eyelid. This will create a nice pop of color to the overall neutral eyeshadow.
Blend the eyeshadow shade Muse in the middle of the eyelid. Blend Muse to overlap Admire just enough to create a clean transition. This pink shimmer is a good base and transition color into the darker wing shade.
For the wing, smoke out the shade Antique on the outer eye. Antique is a cool tone purple shimmer, slightly darker than Muse. It's a good color for an everyday makeup look, not too dark or bold.
Line the outer eye near the lash line with a matte dark purple eyeshadow, creating a more detailed mini wing. I used a dark purple to emphasize and bring out the purple tones to contrast the yellow. The eyeliner also helps to elongate the appearance of your eye shape.
Add mascara to your eyelashes or fake lashes to your preferences. I wore black colored lenses from Moody Lenses, just for a bit of fun. These lenses have gold specks mimicking stars around the rim of the contacts.

Complementary Makeup for Golden Hour Eyeshadow Look

Blush: Chioture Double Color Blush in shade 01. This blush is a light apricot color and matched well with the warm tones of the eyeshadow look.
Lip: Gogo Tales Moisturizing Lip Oil in shade 03. This cute grape jelly lip oil has gold flecks of glitter in the formula. I decided on a more natural lip, as the other makeup products were on the vibrant side.
Perfume: Skylar Fruitful Bliss. Fruitful Bliss is a fruity and floral scent inspired by the lush landscapes of Cosa Rica. It has notes of mamey sapote, crisp apple, and dahlia. This was the perfume for the Skylar Scent Club subscription in July 2023.
